Kari Lock, of Canton, NY, is currently touring the world figure skating professionally. As an amateur skater, Kari passed her senior freestyle, senior MIF, and all the international dances. She was a student of Lisa Cardinal and Alicia Walter.
While still in Canton, Kari skated and coached for the St. Lawrence Figure Skating Club. After high school, Kari attended Williams College, where she started a figure skating club, taught a skating PE class for other students, coached local skaters, participated in collegiate competitions, and developed her professional career.
During her college years, Kari did numerous short professional shows around the US and abroad, performing first as a singles skater, and then teaming with 5-time British National Champion Michael Aldred to skate pairs. After college, Kari finally had the time to tour full-time, and joined Holiday on Ice, a major European-based ice show company. She spent last year touring Central America and Europe with the company, and this year is off touring Asia. Three pieces of advice from Kari to any skaters who aspire to skate professionally: "work hard and make the most of your time on the ice, always smile when you perform J, and most importantly, skate because you love it and because it makes you happy!"
