Systematic Figure Skating 3 Volume Set

Volume I: Spins
This extraordinary new video series documents the innovative teaching methods of Gustave F. Lussi, world-renowned coach of such champions as Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill. Each one-hour volume, in the four volume series, places the viewer in actual lesson situations with Mr. Lussi and presents in detail the methodology of the renowned coach who invented, and first introduced, many of the exciting moves performed in today's free skating -- the flying sit spin, the flying camel, the Hamill camel.

By way of illustration, the series also includes rare film footage of Tenley Albright, Dick Button, John Curry, Dorothy Hamill, Don Jackson, Otto & Maria Jelinek, Gordie McKellen, and Ronnie Robertson demonstrating the results of Mr. Lussi's methods.

Volume I reveals the legendary spinning techniques developed and taught by Mr. Lussi to prepare students for multi-revolution jumping. "The spinning was the basis for the jumping . . . Gustave Lussi produced champion after champion after champion, because he gave his pupils techniques that they could rely upon." Dick Button, two-time Olympic Champion and ABC SPORTS Commentator.

This is your opportunity to join 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist Paul Wylie and other skaters "on lesson" with Mr. Lussi. Your first one hour lesson includes step-by-step instructions from Mr. Lussi on the sit spin, forward scratch spin, back scratch spin, as well as steps into and out of the spins.

Slow-motion and stop action video, as well as detailed chalk-board diagrams, are used to fully explain the necessary elements required to perform each spin.

"Cecily Morrow has produced an outstanding educational tape on the Gustave Lussi technique . . . This tape is what I've personally longed to see . . . a step-by-step teaching tool" Susan Davies, Chairman, Coaches Training Committee, Professional Skaters Guild of America (PS Magazine Jan./Feb. 1993)

Volume II: Advanced Spins
Advance Spins is the second videotape in this highly acclaimed series. True to his teaching methodology, where mastery of one element prepares the student for a more complicated maneuver, each volume in the series builds upon the basics contained in its predecessor.

Volume II features Paul Wylie and other skaters "on lesson" with Mr. Lussi, receiving step-by-step instruction on the camel spin, flying camel spin, flying sit spin, and combination spins.

"His really is the foundation of technique . . . no one will ever, ever, be able to get away from it, because it's based on sound, fundamental concepts" John Misha Petkevich, North American and U.S. Champion, sports commentator, and former Lussi student.

1962 World Champion Don Jackson says that he always thinks of "Gus Lussi as the pioneer of the double jumps . . . and the triple jumps because he had Dick Button doing the double Axel and triple loop . . . the first time they were being done. Carlo Fassi remembers "he had a new idea about spinning . . . he had mainly the idea, for example, to rotate with the legs crossed. He was the first one I found that told me that." Ron Ludington recalls that Mr. Lussi devised "a more efficient way of jumping" and "the flying sit spin, the flying camel, the Hamill camel" PS Magazine Jan/Feb 1993.

"Gus Lussi taught me how to skate. He taught me how to jump, and he taught me how to spin" Dorothy Hamill, 1976 Olympic Champion, and former Lussi student, PBS documentary "Gustave Lussi: The Man Who Changed Skating".

This series is a "unique opportunity to learn from a great master. Visually explicit, fascinating to follow . . . this video captures the essence of Mr. Lussi's technique while demonstrating clearly how to attain it" Meg Streeter, producer, Magic Memories on Ice

"Cecily Morrow has produced another definitive educational tape on Gustave Lussi's methods . . . a valuable reference and teaching aid" Susan Davies, Chairman, Coaches Training Committee, Professional Skaters Guild of America.

Volume III: Jumps
Jumps is the third video in this highly acclaimed series. True to his teaching methodology, where mastery of one element prepares the student for a more complicated maneuver, each volume in the series builds upon the basics contained in its predecessor.

Volume III features Paul Wylie and other skaters "on lessons" with Mr. Lussi, receiving step-by-step instruction on the salcow, flip, lutz, loop, axel, and combination spins.

"His really is the foundation of technique . . . no one will ever, ever be able to get away from it, because it's based on sound, fundamental concepts" John Misha Petkevich, North American and U.S. Champion, sports commentator, and former Lussi student.
